3 Growth Industries For Great Job Security

Denny JonesJuly 21, 2017
Have you been laid off? Is the company you work for downsizing and you feel as though the sword of Damocles is hanging over your head? Are you sick of the monotony of the daily grind and want to try something new?
Job Security
There are many perfectly valid reasons for wanting a change of career, but in a rapidly changing job market where entire industries seem to rise and fall with the changing of the seasons, it’s difficult to know where to look. You want a career that will offer opportunities for growth, development and promotion in an industry that’s going to offer you great job security in an industry that’s only going to grow and develop. But where do you find it?
If you’re dead set on a career change but aren’t sure where to look, these growth markets may offer you exactly what you’re looking for.
Litigation support
Back in the day, all the legal profession needed to keep on top of documents pertaining to active cases was a filing cabinet and a diligent secretary. Nowadays, it’s a little more complicated. As legal processes increasingly rely on automation for their processes, the volume of electronic data for most legal practices is becoming too much for legal staff to handle on their own.
litigation
To cope with the increase in scale and complexity of litigation as well as the inherent demands of handling literally millions of documents, legal professionals have had to outsource the processing and handling of electronic data to an emerging new profession, litigation support. If you come from an IT background or are technically literate and also have an interest in law then this could be the career for you. Even if you’re not experienced in the legal profession there are entry level positions as document coders and litigation support analysts and the high demand can result in a very lucrative salary when you gain some experience.
Renewable energy
If Stephen Hawking is right then we have about 30 years left to turn things around before our planet becomes uninhabitable. This makes the rise of the renewable energy more important than ever. Not only is the renewable energy market creating jobs 12 times faster than the rest of the economy, there are few industries that can offer better job satisfaction than knowing you’re doing your bit to help the planet. Despite President Donald Trump’s stubborn climate change denial and vociferous support of fossil fuels, the renewable energy will keep growing until long after his presidency.
App development
Ask any budding entrepreneur and they’ll tell you that apps are the new websites in that they are not only ubiquitous but a necessary part in helping SMEs achieve sustainability and growth. Who are they going to turn to? Will it be you? The app industry has grown exponentially since 2010 with a staggering 2 million apps on the market as of 2015. Moreover, the coding experience that you will gain in learning to develop an app will give you invaluable transferable skills that will grant you a foot in the door in a huge range of fields in an increasingly digital job market.
